The first stream of my research
centers on the ways in which workplaces can provide constructive
assistance to employees who develop problems in their personal
lives which have the potential for affecting their job performance.
Such help is commonly organized into efforts known as Employee
Assistance Programs (EAPs). My second main interest is in how
human service organizations develop and survive. To that end,
I am currently directing a national study of the adaption and
survival of private alcoholism treatment centers.
