I am a Research Scientist with the Institute for Behavioral Research and an affiliate faculty member with the Social Foundations of Education Department. My research focuses on the roles of race, social class, immigration, and gender on identity formation, school achievement, and school discipline. I am the Principal Investigator for the Spencer Foundation-funded study “Why Are Black Males Disciplined? Patterns, Perceptions, and Consequences of the Discipline Gap in Black Suburbia” and co-director for the Spencer Foundation-funded study “African American Adolescents in a Black Suburb in the U.S. South: A Social Study of Schooling, Identity, and Achievement.”
