My research focuses on the
nature of self-esteem and its role in various aspects of psychological
functioning. In our work, we assess people's general level of
self-esteem (whether it is high or low) as well as the extent
to which their feelings of worth exhibit short-term fluctuations
(self-esteem instability). The results of numerous studies show
that both are important components of self-esteem. We currently
are examining why people vary in the extent to which they exhibit
short-term fluctuations in feelings of self-worth.
