My research involves the investigation of individual differences and developmental changes in emotional expression and regulation of mothers and infants within a dyadic relational context. I am particularly interested in first-time mothers' emotions expressed and experienced in social interaction with their infants and how this experience influences their parenting behaviors. I am also interested in examining the influence of family, social, and cultural factors on young children's understanding and control of their emotions.
