My
research falls within the category of organizational
careers. Within this broad topic I study issues related
to the domestic relocation of employees, work and family
issues, and organizational mentoring. In terms of relocation
my work has focused on the predictors of employees’
willingness to relocate, organizational efforts to help employees
and families deal with the stress of relocation, and managerial
decision making with respect to selecting candidates for
relocation opportunities. My research on work and family
addresses how individuals use various sources of support
to help alleviate work-family conflict and methodological
approaches to studying work-family relationships. Finally,
my research on organizational mentoring deals with the positive
and negative aspects of mentoring for both mentors and protégés.
