I'm interested in the social impact of genetics research. I study the social and ethical dimensions of public communication about genetics. I focus especially on the impact of new genetics research and technologies on women's reproductive options and constraints. I study the interface of public discourse, personal attitudes, and social policy on these issues. I use a variety of methods including discourse analysis, audience analysis, surveys, observation, and quasi-field research. Particular sub-issue contents of interest are biological determinism and genetic discrimination.
