For the past 15 years I have been examining the role of marital processes in depression. I am interested both in the potential of marital relationship variables to protect against depression as well as the potential of depression to precipitate marital problems. More recently, I also have focused attention on the role of self-evaluation maintenance processes in marital satisfaction and marital behavior. I am interested in prevention and treatment as well as developing better models of the linkage between intrapersonal and interpersonal systems.
